Video metadata

Hi Chad. :0) Interesting discussion here. I've also been a longtime contributor to P5 etc. but have always used an accompanying .CSV file for all my bulk uploads. I too, had never heard of embedded data for video, but its also likely because I do all my work in Davinci Resolve on a PC...and from what i understand IPTC is not a "thing" for Resolve. Oh well. lol. I'm guessing you're on Premiere Pro?

We're busy testing possible solutions. Reach out if you'd like to be involved.

We will investigate whether we can extract title, description, and keyword metadata embedded into video files.

Hi Chad,
We are already extracting a lot of metadata from videos uploaded through Pixify. The metadata is stored in Shopify's metafields. You can see it when you open a product in Shopify and scroll to the bottom where it says metafields.
To show it on your website, you can use one of our App Theme Blocks or manually put the metafields on your product page.

Jacob Lund: hello Jacob, thank you for the fast reply. I guess I should have said IPTC - not metadata. Just wanting to get the title, description and keywords out of the embedded data in videos.
Jacob Lund
Chad J.W. Anderson: I didn't know it was possible to embed titles, descriptions, and keywords into video files. What software do you use to do this? And do any other stock agencies extract this when you upload the content?
Chad J.W. Anderson
Jacob Lund: Yes. We've been doing it for years using Adobe Bridge. It embeds the video file (.MOV) with the title, description and keywords. As well as other key metadata. POND5 has had this ability for several years. Upload a video and the Pond5 backend pulls title, description and keywords to pre-fill the fields. I was so excited about the Pixify app but when we realized it would only pull title, description and keywords from photo (.JPG) files and not from videos we got a little bummed. Our portfolio is hundreds of images but thousands of videos. I even tried to run a test by embedding the title, description and keywords in IPTC (IIM, Legacy) instead of just IPTC Core to see if the PIXIFY app would read the data but still nothing. I have attached a screenshot of the one video I ran the test on. Also, we would be happy to help in any way to make this possible for video.

Chad J.W. Anderson: Thanks a lot for the explanation and screenshot, Chad. We'll look into whether we can extract that metadata when we process the video.

Chad J.W. Anderson: Can you send me one of your videos with metadata embedded on contact@pixify.io?
